Following a hard-fought 2-1 over SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium over the weekend, Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer has lauded the performance of his striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Pirates recorded a fifth win in all competitions this season with Mabasa coming off the bench in the Matsatsantsa encounter to score the winner in the 86th minute.
“We are happy about this. He comes in the last friendly game 45 minutes in the second half, and he scored three times,” said Zinnbauer.
“He was ready, I feel it in training this week, I feel it in the friendly game last week, and I was so, so, 100 per cent sure that when we bring him in, he gets one option, he gets one opportunity and he scored. That’s what the reason is he came in, and I’m very happy about it,”
The 24-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic star resumed training last week after a lengthy injury layoff and the German mentor was impressed by the way in which the forward bounced back.
“He had a bad time in the past weeks, you know in the bubble he had a big injury, and now he comes so quick back, I’m very happy about it.”
