Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is well aware that anything less than three points against the high-flying Golden Arrows at Orlando Pirates on Wednesday afternoon won’t be good enough.
With two defeats, one draw, and a single win in the new year – 2021, Pirates haven’t enjoyed a smooth run in the DStv Premiership but Zinnbauer is optimistic that Arrows will travel back to KwaZulu Natal from Soweto empty-handed.
The German mentor wants his troops to close the gap to the other early league title candidates such as Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Swallows more especially after suffering a 2-0 loss against Black Leopards in their most recent league game.
“We have to put the loss behind us and prepare for the game on Wednesday, and we have to win the next match at all costs to be within touching distance with the leading pack. We need the three points against Arrows,” said Zinnbauer.
Only one point separate Pirates and Arrows on the log standings, with ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ in position four with 18 points, while ‘Bucs’ are in fifth place having collected 17 points.
The KwaZulu Natal-based outfit is yet to lose a match this season having registered four wins and six draws in their opening 10 league matches.
“It’s a big game for us and we have to win against Arrows, same area as us on the league table at the moment and we have to get the three points,” added the German coach.
“But we have to score and defend well. We got nothing in the last game, and we have to be at our best against Arrows.”
