Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be on the sidelines for another 10 days with a calf injury as AC Milan prepare for the Serie A restart on 13 June.
Milan announced on Thursday that the Swede underwent further medical tests and will be out for a few more days.
The 38-year-old “has undergone a check-up following the injury to his right soleus muscle. His recovery is proceeding well, without complications and a new check-up is to be expected in about 10 days”, the Serie A club said.
Ibrahimovic sustained the injury last month in training. He rejoined the club during this season’s winter transfer window.
AC Milan are set to resume their coronavirus-hit season at the end of next week, with a return Italian Cup semi-final against Juventus. The Serie A was suspended on 9 March as part of efforts to limit the spread of Covid-19.
The Swede joined the Italian giants on a six-month deal in December, his second spell with the club having spent two seasons there between 2010 and 2012, the first of them while on loan from Barcelona.
Ibrahimovic played for Manchester United between 2016 and 2018 before joining LA Galaxy. He has had serious injuries before, including a knee ligament problem while at United that sidelined him for more than six months in 2017. But, given his age, there were fears an Achilles injury at this stage could have meant the end of his career.
