Mokotjo’s team rescues Zongo

Dribbling wizard Masibusane Zongo is back playing football again.

Zongo has joined Free State side D’General, who are based in Botshabelo and campaign in the ABC Motsepe League. One of the club’s owners is Bafana Bafana midfielder, Kamohelo Mokotjo.

Now 29, the forward will be looking to make up for lost time.

He was last with Extension Gunners of Botswana in 2018.

Zongo was hailed as one of SA’s best talents when he came through the junior ranks at SuperSport United, but has disappointed by failing to live up to the hype owing to off-the-field issues.

He’s been with SuperSport, Platinum Stars and many other clubs, but has never settled.

Whether he’d ever make it back to the topflight is a subject for another debate.

For now he has to contend with life in the third tier of SA football.
