Kaizer Chiefs forward Dumisani Zuma anticipates a difficult encounter against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership league at Jonsson Kings Park Stadium this afternoon (15:00).
Amakhosi look to break away from their poor start in the 2020/21 Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign as they currently sit 14th on the log standings from nine games.
Zuma reckons that his side is gunning for maximum points in order to end their winless run in the top division. “Everyone knows the situation we are in and it is very important for us to get that win,” he says.
“We are very focused. We’ve put ourselves in this situation and we need to fight and get ourselves up on the league table. Winning is vital and so is collecting the points available to us.”
The 25-year-old admits Usuthu is a difficult side to play against especially on their own turf, but they will go all out to get positive results.
“From my experience, they are always a difficult opponent to play. Again, they have quality players and a new coach (Benni McCarthy), so we don’t really know much about them. It is going to be a difficult one, but we know if we stick to our philosophy, we will do well,” he adds.
The last time the two sides met in September 2020, the Glamour Boys beat AmaZulu 2-0 with goals from Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.
The Pietermaritzburg-born player has only featured in five games in all competitions which he came on as a substitute.
“I had been struggling with match fitness, but these minutes that I have been getting are going to boost my confidence and my stamina,” he says in conclusion.
