After weeks of transfer drama it seems Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu could have his wish of joining Scottish giants Galsgow Rangers come through after another development in the transfer situation.
A few weeks ago reports in France and Scotland emerged that suggested that the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder failed a medical at Rangers because he was unfit and overweight.
Zungu trained alone at Amiens after coach Luka Elsner had told him and Senegalese striker Mossa Konate that he won’t be using them in his team since their focus is more on leaving the club than on giving a 100% commitment for the season.
Elsner was sacked by Amiens which opened the door for the 27-year-old to make a come back to the squad which he did against Pau in a 0-0 draw and this past weekend he played 82 minutes in the 1-0 away loss against Caen.
French publication Get French Football reports that the Scottish giants are now back at the negotiation table to try to get a deal over the line for the Bafana Bafana international who has played two good games since his return to the team.
The tricky part for SC Amiens is that Zungu has less than a year left on his current contract and is not willing to sign a new contract so the club can either strike a deal with Rangers and make some money or lose the anchor for free at the end of the season.
It now seems like the second option is the one they’re considering.
