Zungu set to return to France from Scotland

Amiens manager Oswald Tanchot has confirmed that Bongani Zungu will return from his loan at Glasgow Rangers.

Zungu has not had a good season with the Scottish giants since completing a loan move from SC Amiens at the beginning of the season. He has managed to make 14 Premiership appearances and it seems he will not wear the blue and white colours of Rangers again.

After struggling to break into the starting eleven, he broke Covid19 regulations which made his time at Ibrox even more difficult. He was later fined by the club and Scottish Football Association. Part of his punishment was a six-match ban which has seen him miss most of the club’s recent games in the league.

Speaking to Daily Record, Tanchot said they will be releasing a few players, but also expect a few returnees next season.

“This season we have used 40 players which is far, far too much. It’s hard to create anything with that turnaround.

“For next season, we won’t have the services of loan players Molla Wague and Racine Coly who will return to their parent club.

“But we will have Bongani Zungu back, who has a year left of his contract with us.”

Zungu has won the league title with Steven Gerrard’s side. Rangers have been ruthless this season and on Sunday they completed a double over their local rivals Glasgow Celtic.

On the other hand, Amiens sit in 10th spot on the table this season and look set to remain in Ligue 2 for the 2021/22 campaign.
