Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits defender Siyanda Zwane is training with GladAfrica Championship side Uthongathi FC in a hope to secure a contract.
Zwane was released by Wits earlier this month after he was deemed surplus to requirements by coach Gavin Hunt and his technical team in a move that was described as “a marriage that never worked out” by the player himself.
The Cane Cutters media officer Nkosinathi Chili has since confirmed the news though he revealed that the technical team are still assessing Zwane and no decision has been taken as yet.
“Yes, Siyanda Zwane has been training with the team over the last few days and he is being assessed by the coaches but at the moment we can not confirm anything because we only rely on the information provided by the technical team regarding his situation and right now there’s no concrete information given to us by them,” stated Chili.
Uthongathi have bolstered the squad with the signings of Siyabonga Nomvethe, Thanduyise Khuboni and Sandile Zuke in what has been an extremely busy January transfer window for the club as they go all out to try and secure automatic promotion to the PSL come end of the season.
They are currently second behind Ajax Cape Town.
