Kgaogelo Sekgota explains the reason behind lack of game time at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has explained why he has not been getting enough playing time of late, having started the season like a house on fire.

The 25-year-old playmaker’s stellar performances at the beginning of the campaign had Kaizer Chiefs’ head coach Arthur Zwane describing him as the real talisman of his squad.

Sekgota was speaking ahead of the Soweto giants’ media session in preparation for Sunday’s DStv Premiership clash against Royal AM in Polokwane.

The kick-off for the eagerly-awaited DStv Premiership showpiece is set for 17:30 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

He has made 19 appearances across all competitions for Amakhosi in the current campaign .

The talented player has not been playing like he used to when the season started, with coach Zwane playing him mostly late in the second half.

However, Sekgota has since explained that Zwane’s decision to bench him is purely tactical.

KGAOGELO SEKGOTA EXPLAINS THE REASON BEHIND HIS LACK OF GAME TIME

“As a player you have to work hard to play and whenever you get the opportunity to play is something you should be grateful for,” Sekgota told the media.

“We have a good coach to play us around, whoever he picks deserves to play. Obviously football is a game of opportunities.

“You know, football is about facing opponents and the coach has his own tactics for every game.”

Sekgota believes that Chiefs has a lot of quality players who also deserves to take the centre stage to prove their worth and lead the team to the promised land.

“I think we have a big squad with good players around. And whoever deserves plays deserves to play because the most important thing to do is to win games for the club,” he added.

“We want points and better results, so we do everything to win a match.”
