Bafana midfielder delivers another solid display in MLS

In his last match before joining up with his Bafana Bafana teammates, Njabulo Blom delivered yet another solid display in the MLS.

The former Kaizer Chiefs midfield workhorse maintained his recent fine form in the middle of the park. His side St Louis City earned a crucial point in the process.

They played to a 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy at CityPark on Sunday evening. The result saw them maintain the top spot in the Western Conference table.

ANOTHER SOLID DISPLAY FOR NJABULO BLOM

Bradley Carnell’s charges are enjoying a dream debut campaign in the MLS. They have now amassed 29 points from 16 matches.

City are a point clear of second-placed Seattle Saunders who have played two games more and collected 28 points.

Bafana midfielder Blom has been one of the key men for Carnell’s side this season. He has produced some consistent performances in the middle of the park.

Blom had to overcome a slow start to his career in the MLS as he was hampered by injuries and illness which kept him on the sidelines.

But since making his return to the team from his most recent setback, Blom has looked like the player City had hoped he would be when they signed him from Amakhosi.

The 23-year-old will now join up with the Bafana squad in camp ahead of their upcoming CAF Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifier against Morocco.

As a result, Blom will miss his side’s next match in the MLS against Nashville on Sunday but should be back for their clash against Real Salt Lake.

HEAVY DEFEAT FOR BONGOKUHLE HLONGWANE’S MINNESOTA

Meanwhile, his compatriot Bongokuhle Hlongwane continues to endure a tough time of late with his side Minnesota United.

The Loons suffered a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Montreal on Sunday morning. The defeat saw them extend their winless run to five matches on the spin.

Hlongwane will hope for a better time with hi national team when he also joins up with the Bafana squad after he was called up by coach Hugo Broos.
