Pablo Franco sheds light on arrival of ex-Chiefs defender Mdaka at AmaZulu

AmaZulu FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin has shed light on the arrival of the former Kaizer Chiefs defender Omega Mdaka who’s training with his side.

The left-back, along with his former teammate Puso Dithejane had their contracts terminated by Chiefs last month. This was after they reportedly refused to be the ball boys in the Carling Knockout Cup match against Usuthu.

Further, according to SABC Sport Amakhosi were then said to have demanded a fee of R1.5 million for each player from clubs that would sign the duo.

While Dithejane recently signed for TS Galaxy, Mdaka has resurfaced at AmaZulu.

Martin didn’t confirm whether the player had put pen to paper, saying the question was for the DDC team since the player’s future is currently with the reserve side.

Meanwhile, sharing his impression of the defender, Martin said he was happy with what he had witnessed in Mdaka.

PABLO FRANCO MARTIN SAYS OMEGA MDAKA’S FUTURE IS WITH DDC TEAM

“He’s a guy who’s coming for the Diski team but from there as we’re short of numbers due to injuries], we need these players to join our training, we are checking him as well,” said Martin.

“He’s doing a great job, we are checking him but his future is with the Diski.

“We will tell our technical opinion to the grassroots, the Director of the academy and the rest of the people in the club. And from there, we will see because also there are some contractual issues there.

“But right now I can tell you, we are happy not only with him, you’re seeing some of the players from the DDC training with us and we are happy with all of them.

“Maybe this is an opportunity to make debuts with the first team. And that would be a huge success for the people who are working here in the grassroots who are creating what their creating to support the first team with good players.”
