Sekhukhune United show interest in Keletso Makgalwa: Will he join in January?

Sekhukhune United have shown interest in signing the in-form Upington City FC attacker Keletso Makgalwa.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been in top form in the Motsepe Foundation Championship since joining City in October.

Makgalwa parted ways with Sundowns at the start of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season as he was not in coach Rulani Mokwena’s plans.

‘Street Bash’ as he’s affectionately known, has since set the Motsepe Foundation Championship alight with impressive performances for City. He has featured in 10 matches in the league, scoring five goals and contributing three assists.

Makgalwa’s great form attracted interest in several clubs in the Premiership including Babina Noko. The 26-year-old utility player signed a short-term contract at Upington City. He’ll be eligible to sign a pre-contract with any interested club in January as he enters the last six months of his contract.

The former South Africa junior international recently told this publication that his focus is on helping the Northern Cape-based outfit gain promotion to the elite league.

Keletso Makgalwa unlikely to join Sekhukhune United in the January transfer window

“Keletso Makgalwa has done very well for Upington City since he joined them a few months ago,” a source told FARPost.

“Obviously, he performed very well in a short space of time and it’s a no-brainer that there’ll be interest in his services.

“Sekhukhune United is making a real push for Makgalwa’s signature and they wanted to bring him on board during the January transfer window.

“But it looks like they won’t be able to get him in the upcoming window because Upington City values him a lot. Unless anything drastic happens but for now Makgalwa will remain at his club.”
