Why ex-SuperSport, Pirates star Mahachi deserves another chance

Former Maritzburg United winger Gabriel Nyoni believes ex-SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates star Kudakwashe Mahachi deserves another chance.

Nyoni said this in reaction to the recent acquittal of compatriot Kudakwashe Mahachi from attempted murder and theft charges back home in Zimbabwe.

“I believe Mahachi deserves another chance in his career. We all deserve second chances,” he tweeted.

Earlier, the ex-Cape Umoya United player Nyoni echoed similar sentiments in an interview with the media in Zimbabwe.

“We all know how talented Mahachi is, one of the best talents ever produced in Zimbabwe. He needs to be given a second chance,” Nyoni is quoted saying.

“Everybody deserves one and if he does get it, I hope he has learnt quite a number of things from this situation.”

BACKING FROM FORMER HIGHLANDERS TEAM-MATE

Nyoni was once team-mates with Kudakwashe Mahachi while playing for Zimbabwe giants Highlanders FC.

Kudakwashe Mahachi is now a free man after a court in Zimbabwe acquitted him of attempted murder of his son.

He had battled in court charges that he had scalded his four-year-old as part of alleged rituals to boost his career.

His former wife is said to have made such claims against Mahachi in court.

The estranged wife claimed that the former Golden Arrows player had scalded his son leading to the amputation of his left leg.

Mahachi, however, successfully told the court that his son had a rare skin condition that makes him look like he was scalded.

ACQUITTAL FROM THEFT CHARGES

Another court in Zimbabwe also acquitted Mahachi of theft charges.

The former Pirates player was accused of having snatched and damaged a mobile phone (x iPhone) for his sister.

He was accused of having damaged Meline’s phone as part of his efforts to destroy evidence.

The court cases cost Mahachi a big deal as SuperSport terminated his contract.

The player has admitted that the court causes have exhausted all his income.
