Former Chiefs midfielder’s departure at City Rovers explained

Platinum City Rovers coach Tlou Segolela has explained why former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Joseph Molangoane left the club without touching the ball.

Molangoane had been training with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side since January this year.

This is after he had left SAFA ABC Motsepe League side Sunrise FC, where he was a player/coach. Prior to the move to Sunrise, Molangoane was released by Marumo Gallants at the end of last season.

The 35-year-old got a lifeline to return to PSL football under coach Segolela at City Rovers.

WHY JOSEPH MOLANGOANE LEFT PLATINUM CITY ROVERS WITHOUT SIGNING A CONTRACT

But Segolela has since revealed that the move has now collapsed due to ‘office matters’, with the player having left the club a few weeks ago without signing a contract.

“There were good signs he was showing, and he was committed [at training],” Segolela told FARPost.

“I am not in a position to divulge a lot regarding him [and why he left]. But I can confirm that he is no longer training with us at the moment. But it’s an office matter. He spent almost a month with us.”

TLOU SEGOLELA OPTIMISTIC THE FORTUNES WILL CHANGE AS THEY FIGHT FOR MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SURVIVAL

Segolela has also reflected on the club’s recent results and admits it’s a concern. They are currently second from bottom with only seven matches to play.

“We are a team that deals with reality. The approach is still the same. It’s one game at a time. Yes, we are having some challenges in terms of getting maximum results, but you blame the boys for not fighting.

“The boys are fighting; it’s just that luck was not on our side. What I can say is this is a work in progress. In football, you are going to win some and lose some. So we are hoping that from the previous games that we won, we will build from there and take it to our next fixture, which will be against Upington.”
